Basel Computational Biology Conference

The Brief

The [BC]2 Basel Computational Biology Conference is a symposium of the SIB (Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics), which takes place annually in collaboration with the Biocenter of the University of Basel and SystemsX.ch. At [BC]2 the highlights of the latest scientific results, workshops, tutorials, poster sessions and keynote speeches were presented and discussed by international experts.

The 12th [BC]2 brought together scientists from the fields of bioinformatics, computational biology, biology, medicine and systems biology. In order to efficiently promote the exchange of scientists, an event concept was needed for the opening of the conference that promotes communication and at the same time focuses on individual conference topics.

THE SOLUTION AND RESULT

After a short standing lunch at the Congress Center Basel, the conference was opened with an active afternoon program. With the individual scavenger hunt from tabevents the participants could get to know their team members and discover the host city Basel together. The weather was bright and the teams went on their mission with great enthusiasm. The individual tasks about the conference were the highlight of the digital scavenger hunt. The teams approached the tasks creatively, innovatively and, of course, strategically. The relaxed and cheerful atmosphere when returning to the congress centre ensured a successful start into the Basel Computational Biology Conference. tabevents thus created the perfect initial position for a 3-day exchange between the scientists.
